A Look At What Is Happening In Vikings Take To The Road. . . Men's Basketball Is The Only Team To Play At Home In A Full Week Of Action The winter sports season continues this week with the majority of the Viking teams seeing action on the road. Vikings Coming Off Home Win Over The men's basketball team continues Horizon League play this week with one game at home and another close to home. The Vikings will host league-leading "It was good to finally get a league win last week," head coach Gary Waters said. "Our record really isn't reflective of our performance this year because we have been in every game and one or two small factors have been the difference between winning and losing. We just need to continue to do a better job of executing, especially in the second half in order for some of those losses to become wins."
Tough Road Schedule Has Vikings Playing The Top Two Horizon League Teams The women's basketball team (5-13, 2-3 HL) continues its January road tour of the Horizon League with a swing through "We're going to have to be at the top of our game this week," CSU head coach Kate Peterson said. Crenshaw, who was named EWL Wrestler of the Week after going 3-0 at the Purdue Duals last week, leads the team with a 19-5 record with four pins and four tech falls. Goff is 19-9 while senior Ryan Hurley is 17-7. Men's Swimming Off After Beating Xavier & Duquesne. . . The "We won five events against some good competition," head coach Wally Morton said. "For us to have that kind of performance is outstanding." The Vikings won by large margins over Duquesne (157-69) and Xavier (168-58) but fell to Notre Dame (154-87) for a 2-1 showing. CSU received a big lift by adding freshman Jakub Dobies, who broke the school record in the 100 breast (55.29) in his debut. Dobies, a native of Senior Chris Dalman continued his dominance in the diving events, winning the one- and three-meter dives with scores of 349.72 and 364.27, respectively. Junior Dave Duecker won the 400 IM (4:02.55) and sophomore Marko Milenkovic placed first in the 100 free (46.48). Women's Swimming Idle Until Jan. 26. . . The "After our training trip to The Vikings fell to Duquesne (152-48) and Xavier (129.5-70.5) in their first action since competing in the Miami Invitational on Dec. 2. Senior Marianne Lionell was the only Viking to win an event, taking the 100 breast in 1:08.69. Lionell, competing in the 100 fly for the first time this year, posted a team top time in the event (1:01.18). Junior Lesley Jones added a third place finish in the 100 free (55.82). After getting back in the swing of things at the North America Cup last week, the Vikings are scheduled to square off against Air Force, Cal State Fullerton, "After the start we got off to last semester, I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do in our first dual meet of the new year," head coach Jim Sager said. "Notre Dame is always one of the top teams in the country and the rest of the competition will really test us as well." Viking High Fives Jakub Dobies - The men's swimming freshman from Bahaadar Russell - The men's basketball sophomore made the most of his second career start, scoring a career-high 21 points - 11 more points than he scored the entire season - in the win over Rashard Goff - The sophomore's pin was the difference in CSU's 18-15 wrestling win at Marianne Lionell - The senior women's swimmer won the 100 breast, winning in 1:08.69.
