CLEVELAND, Ohio - A total of 10 athletes from the Cleveland State men's and women's fencing teams have been selected to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship on Sunday, March 2, at Detroit.

The regionals are the final step before the NCAA Championship, which will be held from March 13-16, in Columbus, Ohio.

"This is a great opportunity for our fencing program," head coach Jim Sager said. "It is the culmination of a lot of hard work over the last several months and we are going to go represent Cleveland State fencing as best we can."

Andy Snell, Jeff Tormey and Shawn Wright were all selected to represent the Vikings in the men's epee, while Liran Gross, John Marshall and Stephen Montgomery were chosen in the men's foil. John Downey is the final qualifier from the men's team and will participate in the men's sabre.

On the women's side, Brooke Snyder and Courtney Zemkosky were selected to compete in the epee with Katie Smetana earning a berth in the sabre.
