Jan. 20, 2004 CLEVELAND - Indianapolis native Omega Harrington has joined the Cleveland State women's basketball team after spending the last year-and-a-half at Duquesne. A 5-7 point guard, she will be eligible to play for the Vikings at the completion of the 2004 fall semester. "We're thrilled to have a player of Omega's caliber join our team," CSU head coach Kate Peterson said. "When she becomes eligible next year she will make an immediate impact with her quickness and ball-handling skills." Harrington played in all 36 games as a reserve, scoring 69 points with 27 assists while averaging 8.8 minutes of action. In seven contests this year, she averaged 5.4 points per game and converted 46.4 percent of her field goal attempts. As a senior at North Central High School, she averaged 13.5 ppg, 5.0 apg and 4.0 rpg to lead the team to a 16-5 record and the 2002 IHSAA sectional championship. Tied for second in the Horizon League, Cleveland State (7-8, 4-1 HL) closes out a four-game homestand with three contests in five days. On Thursday, Jan. 22 the Vikings will host Loyola Chicago (7-9, 2-3 HL) at 5:00 p.m., followed by games against Illinois-Chicago (Jan. 24) and IPFW (Jan. 26).
